Maple leaves on parade

I’m still knitting-impaired (whine, whine, whine), knitting is slow and limited, so no news on the knitting front.

But last weekend, after taking a few fall pictures, I was having fun with my (freeware) photo editing program and thought you might enjoy seeing some of the results. Warning: obviously extremely picture-heavy!

Here’s some leaves from my little Japanese maple:

Unadulterated other than cropping to square.

Now let’s skew our perspective a bit:

Effect named “Explosion”:

Looks more like looking through frosted glass than an explosion, but interesting.

Circular waves:

Just makes the maple look like some exotic cultivar.

Fish-eye:

Not as evident in this photo as it might be with another subject.

Fragmented (don’t adjust your glasses or your brain, it’s not you):

Noise:

Zoom blur:

(Look at those leaves go!)

Snow (by the way, yes, it certainly can snow here at the beginning of October):

Big pixels:

Smaller pixels:

Polar coordinates (I like this one; it looks as though the leaf has fallen into a quiet whirlpool):

Radial blur:

Raindrops:

“Rock”:

And two more of my favorites, “twirl” and “swirl”.

Or is it “swirl”and “twirl”?

Tomorrow, the second half of the series, playing with color and line. Fair warning!

  1. Fun! I like the circular waves, rock, and polar (explosion?).
